With the objective of providing timely weather advises to the farmers and supplementing better inputs for crop-weather research, VFPCK has set up a network of Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) in the State. Weather data from these stations is available round-the-clock in real time at VFPCK head quarters through GPRS/GSM communication facility. The data is analyzed on a daily basis and updates are made available online in our website. In collaboration with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Kerala Agricultural University, weather data collected by VFPCK is utilized in preparing weather reports and farmer advisory bulletins. This data may also be utilized for weather based crop insurance scheme.
